Its like people who are racist or sexist are actually people who believes their own race or gender is threatened. It is always an automated defensive mechanism.This is why some people attack Assange personal lives, especially those associated with government and military. Because here's a man who followed his inner compass by exposing war crimes, this is completely unfathomable to someone in the military who have been trained their entire life NOT to follow their inner compass and follow their orders and what everyone else is doing.
Assange shone a light on their insecurity because they lost their inner compass along the way, and that's the root of the hatred. It is a terrible thing to face that what you believed you did good for your country by following what you were told, actually ended up doing harm. The default response is to lash out at the exposer.
