I am unsure about the military connection. Let's not forget Manning was in the military. From the posts I have seen, the hatred directed towards Assange and his supporters (including those of us on HC), is purely political. Dutton and his cronies voted against Assange's release (with one exception) so the vast majority of his sheep will follow without giving the issue a second thought.

It is all fine with Assange releasing classified secret documents until one of your family members is killed because of his actions.
