It would seem, my earlier post has rattled the ill-informed (keyboard experts) on another forum. I removed their names, as any nasty words used here, might upset them. We dont want people crying. Geraldine is actually a small town in the mid-canterbury area of NZ. It's about as far removed from the Ocean as you can get, you certainly dont need a barge to visit it, or leave after a holiday, it's easily done by car or bus. Perhaps some basic research by that poster, might have saved him from making a nonsense post, to his loyal flock of believers.

This is the Port of Geraldton, if anyone can point out the barges in the pictures, feel free to do so. The Iron Ore Berth (Berth 5) is the one with the dirty roof. Or you can visit the webpage for Geraldton.

Berths 1 & 2 are currently non-operational due to their age and condition.
Berth 3 is a dedicated agri-bulk facility used by CBH to export grain. On occasion it also hosts cruise ships.
Berth 4 is primarily used for the export mineral and non-mineral sands.
Berth 5 is primarily used for the export of iron ore.
Berth 6 is used primarily for importing; break bulk, fuel and fertiliser.
Berth 7 is a dedicated iron ore berth operated by Karara Mining.

In terms of Rail and Road from Macarthur’s Lake Giles Ularring Hematite Project in Western Australia, that's months if not years away. There is no service road constructed to get any equipment in or out. There is certainly no haul-road to get material out, let alone transport it to any rail siding, also yet to be constructed. There is no equipment, to load it onto rail, to get it too Port Esperance.

For all the above to happen, Gold Valley has to repeat what Macarthur started some years ago and never finished.

Key Terms of the Right to Mine Agreement
o Gold Valley granted the right to mine hematite ore from the Lake Giles Ularring Hematite Project
o Macarthur retains legal and beneficial ownership of all tenements.
o Gold Valley is responsible for all expenses necessary to maintain the tenements covered by the Agreement in good standing.
o Gold Valley is required to pay all State Government Royalties.
o Gold Valley must secure all necessary regulatory, statutory and other approvals required to commence mining.
o The Agreement shall continue for life of mine.
o The parties shall negotiate, finalise and execute a detailed agreement within 45 days of the execution of the Agreement.

That includes Road and Rail haulage contracts with existing and new parties. De Ja Vu.
The Port of Geraldton is certainly a better option, than the Port of Esperance.
