Have noticed that the liberals have been very quiet regarding Afghanistan. For all intensive purposes it had been a basket case for more than 20 years. Just ask the Russians for an opinion.

It might still go to the wall but that is not reason to try and do something positive. Otherwise it would like giving up on by-pass surgery simply because we will all eventually die anyway.

Having said all this, situation in Iraq will continue to be difficult for years to come.
