The permits will not be an issue. Studies commenced some time ago.

A permit for a quarry and a modification to existing permits for Renard should not take long by any objective standards.

There will be minimal environmental impact. The land is not zoned for special use.

The Cree are supportive - and keen to get an operating Renard back in operation for the economic benefits it provides to the region.

Likewise the road (already sought by the Cree) - which also has social and economic benefits for the Cree - and a new quarry to get it all moving.

The economic benefit of getting Becanour producing batteries and getting a Canadian foot in the NA supply chain will not be missed by the National or the Quebec governments. They will be feeling the heat from downstream players to whom they have already committed.

The government is not going to sit by on this one when Winsome is ready to go. Too much is at stake for them and it will be politically unpalatable given there is no new mine planning to come online where the positive impact is huge and the negative impact miniscule.
