Over the last 3 weeks the daily gross short sales have averaged around 25%.

However the net open short sale during this period have dropped from ~800,000 to ~600,000 shorts.

This means that the majority of the daily short sale are opened and closed the same day.

Opening and closing of these positions accounts for +50% of daily EXT trades

There were 343655 gross short sales yesterday, 41.59% of the total 826354 sales.

So it seems whoever is doing the accumulating, maybe using short sale to keep the raising SP under control.
