l've posted the ev numbers before .
They are simply staggering .
And that's without storage from commercial vehicle fleets such as school buses etc .
Australians are adding about 3GW of domestic solar per year. Now they are starting to add domestic batteries as well. They are a way behind but they are following a similar uptake trend. Just as solar got cheaper and uptake increased, the same is happening with home storage .
That is a huge resource that will build over the next decade or two . Long before any nuclear rubbish could be built.
What that means is that consumers with evs, home solar and storage are going from being load to becoming the generation source. Ultimately morning and evening peaks will disappear . The very reason they exist is going away .
The Duddites of hc are still thinking about the grid in the old way . Big, lumbering, inefficient , not very flexible generators that force consumers to use electricity the moment that it is generated thus causing shortfalls and peaks.
Households are one of the main contributors to those peaks . By those households generating and storing electricity during the day they largely remove those peaks. lt completely changes the grid profile.
