I agree with you about Macpac having an easy route to market. But it's not possible their stuff is 100% down. Fill power of 600 isn't lofted enough to be pure down. I would say it's probably 80/20 just like the KMD stuff.
But when you compare any of this stuff to something like Montbell it's just not value for money. Macpac shortcuts that issue by being part of BCF, it's a bit harder for KMD.
