Completely agree but how is a Muslim going to get elected purely on the basis of religion when they are such a small % of the electorate?
A 'Muslim candidate' could get elected on the basis of their position on Palestine because they are people other than Muslims who disagree with what Israel is doing & believe the major political parties aren't doing enough to stop it. But that is a single issue not about Islamic faith.
