''The biggest election issue in Europe is in-migration and the ability/desire of those migrants to assimilate with European traditions/customs/behaviour.''
no, IMO - it is NOT
cost of living is atm far and away the issue that is getting people unhappy
if cost of living wasn't a problem ------------ then, IMO - immigration wouldn't be an issue at all.
immigration is just an easy target to identify as 'it's their fault' - when you can't pay your bills and you see lots of strangers -------------- it must be 'their fault'
go take a trip to the immigration museum in Paris - take two trips -------- first trip, just look about and absorb what you see
then, take a few days to let it seep in and think through a few things - then, go back and confirm what you thought about
you'll see the interconnections between economic stress, the appearance of foreigners, the immigration waves
the waltz between all of it - and what you finally get is that - it's not what it seems
It's way too long a story to tell, - I've not written about it because it'd be way too long for most to read and a hell of an effort to write --------- so, I merely suggest - go see for yourselves.
I say that if the cost of living atm wasn't an issue - we would not hear about immigration at all - assuming no big crime waves etc - but, if the economy was ok - that would be ok too.
