So after all that waiting MEI has confirmed what has been obvious for some time. Its project is marginal at best at current REE prices. And arguments that REE prices need to rise to make Western projects economic aren't realistic when China can keep producing at current rices, and if it needs more volume, it just buys byproduct monazite from India and Africa, and also get ionic clays over the border from a few of its neighbours. Current prices are the norm over the last 20 years, and the high price spikes are the anomaly.
