''I assume you also think the government should provide a lifestyle for pensioners who didn't save for their own retirement on par with those who did?''

on par? ---------- due to savings?

well yes I do think that all should be even there

that doesn't mean that I don't see a case and a good working system for those who earned more to get higher pensions - that not only seems fair, but also seems doable and seen to be fair

but again - I lose the horror word 'basic' ------------

It's also a hugely problematic word in the concept of 'Universal Basic Income' UBI

which some kind of universal income at this stage because we can't think of anything better ------- MUST come

what business and governments haven't worked out yet is that if there is a UBI as opposed to a UI ---------- that business and economy will be shattered

fairly simple concept - if everyone or a huge percentage of people have a UI - consumerism goes on

but, if they have a UBI - then every business that is other than food, basic clothing, basic shelter, basic healthcare, basic everything ----------- is gone

kaput, no go, no more, can't be done, impossible, nada, zip, no chanceo

business and government is yet to work that one out - although it's a bloody big elephant standing at the end of their nose

business and government continue on their way using the term UBI -------

    utterly moronic
