From what I can gather Trump could just cease all NATO funding. Politically that would be the easiest way to shut down the war and have the huge added bonus of putting an end to NATO. (I think maybe that's why some NATO members have recently been making individual pledges of support to Ukraine.)
Then Trump and the US can focus on America's only peer competitor, China.
Ukraine has never had any strategic significance for US security.
