So let's look at your comments from someone who doesn't own BHP not even in their super.
You claimed that the management should be reading magazines for the past few months which would have changed their views on Nickel earlier as that is what you have been doing.
Well I would respond that has nothing to actually do with why they are ahead of the markets and closing down their Nickel operations. They are closing them down in October just before the USA election s and are looking at re opening them in 2027.
The problem is that the media have been lying about the polls coming out of the USA which actually indicate a landslide win for Trump. BHP are just protecting their assets by beating the market reaction ahead of the election as the Trump policy is to reduce inflation from day one which involves fossil fuels.
Trump is not against the EV market at all, he just understands that because of the green energy spending by the Biden admin it created inflation. The bottom line is Americans cannot afford to buy these EV's because inflation has damaged their spending power. BHP understand that the difference between the democrats and the republicans is 100% on polices and have nothing to do with the party leaders. The poles show that the Republican policies are what the majority of voters want implemented come election time hence BHP are diversifying accordingly. It's not about reading a magazine and making major decisions like they are doing. Just remember this post when you read about all the closures that will come to all the Chinese companies that have manipulated the commodity markets.
