In that case, the government today would be the proud owner of such failures as BHP's HBI, Beenup minerals sands, Pasminco, Anaconda nickel, Ellendale diamonds, as well as the array of other mineral projects that ceased production early.
Budget deficits would be something to behold in that case.
But, it's just taxpayer dough, right?
