maybe it would be useful to observe trump in a different way. He regards his family as an extension of himself and thus if they do well he gains more kudos and more power. He actively promotes them into roles where they can yield power and expects loyalty. While that is partly because it secures his power I believe he envisages a dynasty.
anyone in his inner sanctum is also expected to give utter loyalty - that’s tribal - with him as the chief and all that goes with that. If you aren’t in his tribe you are a threat )
maybe you think a legacy is the contribution one makes. But there are other ways of viewing it
trump doesn’t care about his legacy in terms of action or policies or impact but he does care about how he is seen and I think if you told him history would judge him poorly he would care a lot about that
