As the company is transitioning from R&D to commercialisation the role is going to simultaneously evolve and I suspect become vastly more global.
US listing and presence is probably on the cards. Trotting the globe 24/7 isn’t everyone’s ideal career.
he’s a smart guy, knows his strengths and interests, and maybe sees leading the transition to commercialisation is better suited to someone else.
he’s set an incredible foundation, developed the research, got the patents, and set the path forward with enough stock to be VERY wealthy in a few short years without having to ever work again. Stepping aside may be seen as a show of confidence in the ground work.
6 months is a good period to find a CEO to commercialise, and handover leadership.
