As an earlier poster correctly pointed out the 2 option bfs has been a serious consideration for a long time.

From early comments taking about an option to 'fasttrack production' to comments in April that mentioned the option to mine the merensky only. Also having a wide capex range implies they have been looking at this option for a while.

Hence it is probably not the real or whole reason for the latest delays.

Interestingly one has to ask why X did not move for full control if Lonmin when they were cashed up and platinum prices were still recovering. To me that says as much as anything else.
