'Market Focus' in the US this evening

"A gain for October retail sales would improve prospects for the fourth quarter." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]

'Market Reflections' from the last trading session (12.11.2010)

"Inflation and credit-tightening in China made for another rough session with the Dow down nearly one percent to 11,192. Commodities, which had been jumping on prospects of dollar-based inflation, fell back steeply with gold down more than $40 to $1,370 and oil down $3 to $85.

A jump in the inflation expectations reading of the consumer sentiment report brought home the risk of inflation. The yield on the 30-year Treasury rose three basis points to 4.28 percent. The dollar, which had been rallying on European sovereign concern, slipped back with the dollar index ending at 78.11." [Source: nasdaq.com., Mark Pender]

    Of note in Australia tomorrow:-

  7. RBA Meeting's Minutes (Nov 15) [ High volatility expected]
[The minutes of the Reserve Bank of Australia meetings are published two weeks after the interest rate decision. The minutes give a full account of the policy discussion, including differences of view. They also record the votes of the individual members of the Committee. Generally speaking, if the RBA is hawkish about the inflationary outlook for the economy, then the markets see a higher possibility of a rate increase, and that is positive for the AUD.]

  8. Westpac Leading Index (MoM) (Nov)
[The Westpac Leading Index released by the Melbourne Institute tracks nine gauges of economic activity, including share prices and telephone installations, to provide an indication of how the economy will perform. It tends to have an impact on the AUD volatility. Generally speaking, the more positive the reading, the better for the currency, while a low reading is seen as negative (or bearish).]
