The shooter: one little fact that has gone little commented upon:
The shooter lived a fairly short drive away: I think 40 miles?

My guess is no clear motive - political, moral, religious, any-ism-you-like, will actually emerge. He decided to use his gun to kill someone conspicuous - he was perhaps just as inclined to shoot Biden, as Trump. And somebody conspicuous was holding an outdoor event less than an hour away.
You really think it mattered who?

Or just as inclined to shoot into a crowd of people at any sort of gathering. We don't know, and I don't expect we will know.
All this talk of who incited him, or who created the climate of violence etc, nope. None of that matters.

As for Trump: a master stroke of showmanship: to grasp the moment to make a good photo: you have to admit that took a cool, clear mind.

As for leadership in a crisis: yeah, the facts are in on that one: COVID-19 was a crisis, Trump was in charge and he made an epic mess of it.

This was theatre, not leadership. Brilliant theatre certainly.

Not leadership. Politically, Trump is an actor looking for scriptwriters: it's the people around him who'll steer the policies, if he's elected back to the White House.
