The price I quoted - $3k for a 5 kWh module - is the retail price, in Australia, for a reputable brand. I can actually get it for less from a local dealer I know. For the price of one Redflow ZBM, I can get more than four modules: double the capacity.
At that point, the higher efficiency of the lithium module means that the Redflow only makes sense if its other advantages trump the efficiency concerns.
Oh, and by the way - this specific brand recommends 80% discharge, not 50%, which shifts the economics equation even further away from the Redflow option.
