Spatial is survey .. just a fancy marketing name .. means nothing - just using different equipment.
All (most?) surveyors now deploy laser scanning etc - some just more than others. It used to be a bit niche, with barrier to entry being expensive gear, but it is far more commonplace.
We laser scan everything by default (detail and level surveys). Traditional survey gear is still used for cadastral work.
