I agree, but I'd personally rather contribute to Australia in my own way. Supporting small businesses, donating to charities that don't spend it all on admin fees. The things that really make Australia such a great place. I have no interest in financing the private helicopter flights of our politicians, especially when I still drive over the same pot hole I've driven over almost everyday for as long as I can remember. I doubt a politician has ever truly had a positive impact on this country.
I wish there was a way to choose how we contribute to the country (whether it's through tax or the other measures I suggested). Then politicians might actually have an incentive to implement policies that are in the best interest of the people, not themselves.
