Frankly, I don’t hold the same belief as Pitt St, networks and knowledge can all be transferred, and additional expertise can always be acquired if needed. As much no one really likes to think they can be replaced, truth is, they can in one way or another.
I’d be surprised if the CEO wasn’t delegating and building a formidable team. He’s got a fair bit at stake to incentivise a solid transfer to the next CEO.
