    History is replete with these sorts of adverse Socialist outcomes.
    Precedence shows that once the damage has been done, the fix always takes a long time; spanning decades even.

    So whoever runs the place over the next 10 years is moot: even the most competent political leaders, enjoying a strong mandate from the citizens who could somehow be convinced into accepting that they will need to make sacrifices in living standard .... even under those ideal circumstances for change, it will still take at least two electoral terms for any structural improvements that are implemented on Day 1, to become effective.

    My clear sense is that people don't appreciate the severity of the situation.

    It's the frog-in-the-boiling water syndrome.

    Being cajoled for a decade by the Emperor with bread and circuses will do that to the proletariat.

    But restive spirits move slowly at first until, suddenly, they move very fast.
