Wouldn't you want a CEO who knows and is aware of the competition and knows the difference between our product and the competitions? Obviously look what happened with Kohler? Unprepared and doesn't know the competition, how would you know that our product is the best then? How are you going to sell the product and show the advantages over the competition if you dont know it?
Especially during an interview which broadcasts and recordings are available on the net (and could be the reason for the drop)... If he wasnt up for knowing our product and the competitions, send the sales guy whose job it is to know.
