Fang, that's only a problem when we aren't the defending champions! Go the mighty Pies!

adventura, why don't you ask James Packer to take 200,000 instead of $300,000 on his next asset sale and donate the rest to an opposition so they feel more comfortable at the negotiating table next time they sit down together. Tiger gets paid what he gets paid because he is worth EVERY cent. He brings more money into Victoria than any other individual so why should he take a pay cut? As for taking 2 mill instead of 3 mill and putting the extra into the prize money, I think Tiger has done enough to raise prize money over the past 13/14 years than any other player in history. In fact, there are SEVERAL players and caddies who have a running joke with Tiger in the USA. When they walk past him they just say "thanks" every time they see him. That's because prize money has increased in the time he has been on tour from approx $1,000,000 per event to $6,000,000! Can you name ANY other sport where an individual has added SO much. And that is just ON the course. Some of these players now get MILLIONS for wearing a sponsors name on their shirt or cap BECAUSE you can't just offer them one weeks second place earnings US$500,000) to wear a cap for a year.

If Tiger was to do ANYTHING with the money he gets paid here I would suggest he donate ALL of his earnings to a Melbourne Charity. He is going to get taxed half of it anyway. But he really doesn't need to do anything, he is doing enough for Golf AND the Victorian economy as it is.

    Long live the King!

    Regards

    Pete
