Afternoon trading July 23

Half-time wrap:

A rebound in tech stocks helped the ASX rally for the first time in four sessions, mirroring a Nasdaq-led rebound on Wall Street overnight.

The ASX 200 bounced 54 points or 0.68%. Tech was the pick of the sectors, rising almost 2% after a pivot back to megacap market leaders in the US lifted the Nasdaq 1.58%. Alphabet and Tesla advanced ahead of trading updates tonight.

While tech paced this morning's rally, healthcare providers, industrials and spec stocks also enjoyed solid gains. Energy was the only significant drag, falling 1.6% after Woodside's June-quarter production fell short of forecasts.


Personal trading: Flipped PCL off horizontal support when the market got the jitters. Also took KLI back at the retest of the last breakout.
