''ok , the people who were clearly in a position to know he’s been suffering, cognitive decline at best to dementia . For a prolonged period of time . These are the people who care for him ? All hiding this from the voting public until it was in full display during the debate . ''

    well, in short -------------- yes

this is the way that humans operate. Before the debate - it just wasn't so so obvious ------- it was obvious enough for serious concern - but,

humans always see obvious things and let them go. We have a characteristic of doing things 'when we have to, and not before'

but, when something hits us in the face - we act - we act because we are forced to act.

Humans only move when the discomfort of staying put outweighs the discomfort of change.

It's like the recent history in AI - prior to ChatGPT -----

most people knew the term AI - some knew kind of what it was, others hadn't a clue what it was at all -

and almost everyone thought - oh, it's some kind of tech magic bull that's way off in the future somewhere, and that's it --------- it's out of sight and out of mind

boom - ChatGPT is born and launched ---- and even in it's hobbling baby crawling stage - the mindblowing potential is there for all the world to see -

what happened --------- well, kneejerk actions all about - and that included from politicians panicking, to corporate heads running about like chooks without heads - and that included Tech CEO's - who bloody well knew that it was coming --

but, here's the key ------- they didn't grasp what it meant. It didn't exist - so even to those people - it wasn't real, it wasn't here, it was this mystical idea that was yet to be.

IMO - same deal Joe Biden. When it hits everyone in the face and it's so so clear that it's just undeniable --------- then, boom - something must be done.

And there is another thing - imagine going back maybe a couple of years - Joe's decline was clear to many - but, to Joe - no, he would have thought that he could handle it ------ imagine trying to convince him then?

I think it was probably hard enough to convince him now - that's another human characteristic ------------ when we get old - for whatever reasons - we just don't want to give up.

That's how come you have old Princes crashing landrovers ----- the crash, brings home the obvious ---------- it's time to stop driving

to me ---------- perfectly normal human behaviour
