What is with the big shorts of giant ETFs?

    These ETFs are huge with capitalizations in the Trillions, the short positions are in excess of 10%, often much higher, which puts them in the Trillions. Who, or what, is big enough to place those kinds of bets. Seems to be a bet the USA and its "collective West" are going to be wiped out in a few days. Anybody have some further insights here?
