This may be naive but wouldn’t it be prudent to contact those who discontinued participating in the trial to:-
a. Enquire as to their current health.
b. Enquire whether they would consent to a scan.
c. Enquire whether they’re undergoing alternative treatment.
d. Enquire whether they’ve indeed expired.
