The cost is not a major concern for essential infrastructure. It's you city people who don't like it as you are used to having everything while contributing so little. You just let those in the bush produce all the goods and wealth for you to consume while we are left to rot.
I was recently bogged for 14 hours between The Lynd and Hughenden after one big thunderstorm on a major dirt road. Oh but who cares...lets just build another billion dollar freeway or tunnel in Brisbane...don't even spend a few million on some decent gravel on a road that brings the beef to the city. After all only country people use it.
