Didn't think you'd be out of hibernation after the Saints buckled AGAIN.
My football history was short and sweet. Captained a Junior Premiership team, represented the EDJFL in 4 year levels and was Vice Captain for 2 of those years with Terry Keys always Captain. I was invited to train at Fitzroy when I was 15 but said no thanks as I was then, as I am now, strictly a Collingwood man. My best mate Brenden McCormack went and was the Rising Star a few years later. Stupid as that sounds I stick by my decision even though my Dad was furious. In my last game of footy (not by choice) when I was 15, Terry Keys ran across my leg as I kicked with my left foot and I did my knee and never played again. Probably lacked courage anyway so Golf was more my go after that! But I was 5 foot 7 and 60 kilos when I finished footy but was 6 foot 3 and 88kg at 20 so maybe I should have kept playing.
FYI - ""Mr Golf" has played in several Australian Amateurs. Played in the US Amateur in 1997 in Chicago but didn't qualify after not playing for 3 weeks leading up to it... Just got on the grog with some mates and forgot to practice! Finished 3rd in the stroke play of the Victorian Amateur once upon a time (I think Appleby or Lucas Parsons won that year) and Won a Club Championship at my home Club in Melbourne 10 years ago. I don't play as well as I used to but I still float between 1 and 2 so not too bad seeing I play 3 times a month I guess.
Played a bit of Basketball too if that floats your boat. Was runner-up in the Eastern Districts Competition B&F at 14 and at the time had the 2nd most points ever scored in a season (Paul Salmon was first but we played 6 less games) then went to Golf and never played a single game of BBall again after that year. Again, I was a midget and probably missed out by not playing on.
Couple of other Sports I was ok at too but this should keep you going for a while. Just covering my bases.
