From your post I got an idea I hadn't realised before. I assumed that the original rock fractured and was pushed apart so I assummed it was consistently a gap of e.g 2 meteres, that filled with gold bearing ore rock. then a second fracture broke the ore rock and a second infiltration enetered. But you suggested it pinches out. Not sure I have the idea, but maybe physically the vein is the same width, but the gold ore rock was bit like strawberry ripple, not homogenised. So even mining everything with av of 14g/t becomes 4.2 g/t. Which is what they seem to be averaging now (Reports said pods are 30%). But this is a circular arguement. if the av is 14 and the pods are 30% and the rest is close to zero, then pods are nearly 60g/t. Something doesn't add up.
The only other thing I can think of is that they doe the roadway in the ore and keep ploughing along on the smallest sized tunnel with no stoping until they drive into a pod, and then they stope and mine that section of the reef. This means the only way to know what you got is to dig your way there until you hit it. Is this what they mean by multifaces because 70% of the time they are just a quarry?
Other than nobody knows where the gold is, and vainly hoping for the technology to help, I am amazed even simple geometry calculations were not done. Volume of ore in vein/(volume of rock in stope plus volume in roadway) means 4.4g/t??? And only after 2 years they figure this out that the waste rock in the roadway is too much dilution, and need to make the roadways in the ore smaller.
Was there any detailed explanations at all? Was Chris Towsey there?
Something doesn't add up. I am trying but perhaps you can help.
