hold on. There are two different questions in there
so let’s start with Ukrainians. I am connected to the melbourne Ukrainian community through a long time close friend and they continue to retain connections there. One recently married a women from their and her mother and daughter remain in Ukraine. I can tell you exactly how they all feel and it isn’t wanting a Russian victory. Memories of the USSR and holodomor die hard. I recently connected with a Ukrainian here who comes from the Russian occupied territory and she feels the same way.
they are of course distressed by the war and violence but that doesn’t mean they want a Russian victory
as for me
just because I feel for these friends and their extended families doesn’t mean I want to see the war escalate or violence to continue and you inappropriately conflate the two things
Russia has a dark tyrannical side to it and I wish that on no one
and try to avoid another assumption about how I feel about tte uSA when you respond. I have a reasonable capacity for ambiguity and dissonance built up over many decades
