That is correct but one can take steps to maximise returns regardless of what happens. EG I invested in TTT 1.4 to 18(14) and SPR 40c to 120c rather than not be in the market but have a lot of cash as I expect a general market crash.
The cash lets you take advantage of the fall rather than be a victim of it.
