Why apply for a mining licence? Well because they are ostensibly still keeping the option open of mining kookynie themselves. The problem with advertising the asset for sale is there's only like 2 realistic buyers, so if Humphrey just says they're going to sell it then GMD are like 'sure, we'll give you one meeelion dollars'. Having the option of self-performance is good business to not look too desperate, and so it would be nice to see them moving on it proactively
