    Thermioninc, regarding parameters

Rob uses slow stoch 15,5,3 and EMA 41, 195. When I started charting here, I adopted his standards because they were so close to what I use, it seemed pointless to risk confusing the readers with largely insignificant variation, so I adopted the 15,5,3 slow stoch, and some consistency, and bit more widespread adoption seemed to evolve after that.

A couple of regulars are experimenting with longer slow stoch settings. Ten is playing with 195, and I have started experimenting with 34 and 41.

There has been a rekindling of interest in the MACD from wink and Ten this year. Maybe next year we might make a project of refining standard WE charting MACD parameters.

At the moment GJ seems to be working on a momentum indicator, but I dont see any other adopters just yet.

    EMAs
I added the EMA 8 to the suite, but it is the EMA of the "close weighted median" which is ==> (( H + L + C ) / 3). The reason for this is that short EMAs tend to whip around quite a bit. By taking the median (the centre of the range), and then weighting it to the close, you get less whip and a representative EMA. For longer EMAs it does not matter because the more data points you have early in the series, the less whip you get.
