If they’re really staring at VA within the next 6 months (which I doubt) they should go the political route and act now. Announce (or threaten) a swag of job losses and blame the QLD government’s extortionate royalties regime. That would put some well-deserved pressure on Miles and Dick, with a State election less than three months away (in October). That might buy them a waiver of royalties in the short term, until this rotten government is kicked out.

This approach might also strike some sense into opposition leader Crisafulli, and make him realise that the current royalties regime needs to be overhauled and reformed. He’s not been willing to make that commitment, thus far.
