About thirty years ago I had some casual dealings overseas with a senior manager of a large Japanese company, who was old enough to have fought in WWII. He asked if I was an Australian. When I told him 'yes', he said "Australia, very big country, not many people. Japan very small country, many people. We should come down there."

I almost came out with the obvious reply.
