DurAVR isn't anywhere near the finish line yet. Besides, the competition doesn't have to acquire a company with a better product - all they have to do is maintain market share, and they have their own R&D, their industry momentum and reputation to help with that. Hospitals will want a product backed by a $multi-billion company: after all, if a heart-valve product is is implanted with adverse consequences, the lawyers have to sue someone for multi-millions, and we don't want that to be our hospital.
I'm not being a wet blanket for the fun of it. But there's an awful lot of chickens being counted around here.
