"My interest in green hydrogen (gh) is to replace gas as a base load power source" – The concept of "base load" as a bit of a myth. Every wondered why it's called base load and not base supply? It goes back to when state governments were building coal-fired power stations, which can't easily be throttled back below a certain level. So they collaborated with major industries and the roll-out of controlled-load devices to ensure that there was a minimum base load on the network to keep the coal-fired power stations running.

Now that there are times when renewable generation is threatening to exceed demand at times, any form of always-on generation is going to end up being expensive and inefficient. This includes nuclear power plants, which are just as inflexible and slow to react as coal-fired stations.

The trick is to have rapidly deployable on-demand generators. This is why the governments are so keen on gas-fired power stations. These operate like jet engines and can be powered up within minutes. This is where your idea of green hydrogen as generator fuel has enormous merit. During peak renewable generation times, excess energy can be converted into hydrogen, which is then consumed when renewables fall short.
