And when it does - if we are to have a consumerism based economy - then, humans will have to be given what we call money - in able to be consumers. If we do not have a consumer based economy - well, I don't know what it will be ----------- aside from bloody interesting. A man with a shovel was paid about 20 bucks an hour. Now a bulldozer does the work of 100 men - with one man sitting in the seat driving it - costing about ? 40 bucks an hour. Yes, there are a lot of men behind the bulldozer - building it, maintaining it, repairing it, financing it - but, they are being replaced by machines rapidly - robots in factories, AI replacing financiers, etc etc we are moving to a machine world - that is crystal. One day - it will be almost literally - all machines. For us to be out doing art, surfing, fishing and drinking wine - we need money to buy the paint, buy the surfboard, buy the wine if we cannot work to earn that money ---------- from where will it come? if it doesn't come - then, there are no customers, no customers means - no business no business means - no wealth

yep robotics has been changing industrial labour for 40 years. and will continue to do so on a ever-faster scale. I don't think this means no new jobs though as business will always expand and grow. faster than ever with robotics, so employment will still grow imo. either this or UBI will eventually become necessary and unemployment benefits will morph into a permanent substitute..... very much like the ancient Roman means of providing sustenance when citizens were not required to work with slaves providing all the labour.
