You know for well that the soldiers do what soldiers are tasked to do. The decisions are made far away from a battlefield. When my people were threatened with an invasion after not laying the weapons down, the government signed a capitulation treaty, even though the population did not want to surrender. It saved 100s of thousands of lives and a complete destruction of the country. That country still exists as a sovereign and independent state.
