the opposite will actually happen, more stock will hit the grey market.
its a game of supply and demand, which pushes prices down in the grey market. The storefront keep their elevated prices to maintain a prestige brand image.
The brands have surplus stock and will sell it all via wholesale channels.
The funds understand this and that’s why they keep buying on market.
