Yeah, the shorting strategy is definitely an option they can exercise. When Forrest shorted DRO, I believe only 0.4% of the shares on the registry were used for shorting purposes. There's about a 4 day delay before this information is made public, so we won't know if this drop is due to shorters increasing their positions or simply panic selling.
I recall a recent statistic showing that 81% of DRO holders are retail investors, which is significant enough to cause a sharp decline in the share price if even half of them start panic selling. It would be interesting to see the current split between retail holders and institutional investors after the recent capital raise.
Either way, it's a guessing game and no one really knows anything. The only thing that can save the SP now and get it back to where it was is a strong contract announcement or stellar Q3 results.
