The alleged assault occurred 2 months before the 2019 election. Higgins at that time was certainly loyal to the Liberal Party in not putting her allegation in the public domain. Higgins attitude to the Liberal Party appears to have changed by 2021 when she was interviewed by The Project. Perhaps it was the way she was treated, or at least the way she perceived she'd been treated, that turned Higgins against an organisation to which she'd been loyal in the immediate aftermath of the alleged assault.
