This doesn't make sense because higher water temperatures mean more cyclones. Cyclone activity has been low for years, the last large one, Cat 5, hugged the East coast down towards Hervey Bay then veered off well away to cause any damage. That was 2009 or 2010 from memory so over 10 years ago............................

Higher water temperatures just increases the intensity of the cyclone should one form, not the likelihood of one forming. That's my understanding anyway.
