well thats the headline for the report. I don't have much time for Keating these days. yet he's right. AUKUS should be dumped, at least the submarine part. the Collins class are passed the use by date and now to be 'extended'... but after they get them all fully functional maybe then they'll get around to extending them, whatever that really means. last night another eminent American was interviewed. he said strongly that we should instead invest in swarms of underwater, airborne and water borne drones. he said we don't need attack vessels but we do need defence vessels, and lots of them - quickly. because the collins class are so often in dry dock getting repaired and operational that they can only use 3 at best. is 3 subs enough? even if the nukes ever get into Australian Navy hands and command..... as Keating says, we will go where we are directed by the US Navy. this will leave us relatively defenceless.

Yes drones are the new world of war fare and seems a lot cheaper and the Collins was always a disaster anyhow. A navil mate said total junk and everyone in the world knows where our subs are lol.
