The cyclone was briefly a cat 3 as it crossed the coast at Airlie then as it came inland it dropped to cat 2.
The Eungella National Park got bullets of wind in places of 150 to 200kph. The cyclone dropped out to become a rain depression. That ended up also contributing to the Cooper Basin Catchment. I think the weather has a high possibility at present of repeating this pattern for 2012. We have had about 350mm of localised rain in November to date. Unusual.
The sugar crush is on standbye up here because of the weather conditions. We abit south of Airlie...

Thats why I think Eddie has given a timeframe that allows for "What if."
If they are drilling in February then we will most likely have at least VPE having a mostly script offer for Impress. Santo's are interested as they have info of ITC. If we have the rain probably not.
I have admiration for Eddie Smith...When the Gods of rain are against him as well as the sands of time then we all have to move on.
Eddie has had his share of knocks but he remains standing.
He has chosen to retire from the ring but keeping best practice with options open. If the rains come early inland to Cooper "Bpt" maybe the best we will get. The oil is there and the cashflow would come but the access is not good.
